Es ist zehn Jahre her, seit ich den mysteriösen Malaclypse den Jüngeren gefunden habe. Ich arbeitete freiberuflich für die Untergrundzeitungen und ging zum POEE Haupttempel in der 555 Battery Street, um ein Interview zu führen.

Ich fand ihn im Tempel-Postfach, wo er damit beschäftigt war, die neue Vierte Ausgabe der Prinzipia abzuschließen. Er schien ungeduldig mit mir zu sein und bestand darauf, dass er nicht die Zeit oder Lust auf törichte Fragen von Reportern hatte. Unbeeindruckt platze ich mit Fragen wie, ob er Panama Red oder Acapulco Gold bevorzugte und wie zum Teufel wir es geschafft haben, in ein winziges Postfach zu passen und andere Dinge, die einer naiven jungen, semiliteralen, abgebrochenen Hippie-Autorin passen. Er fragte mich, ob ich Meskalin einwerfen und die ganze Nacht ficken wolle und sagte, dass er wüsste, wie man sich in ein Einhorn verwandelt, und es könnte Platz für ein kleines Interview auf dem Umschlag der Prinzipia geben, wenn ich für den Größeren Pups arbeiten wolle, also sagte ich sicher, OK, ich habe noch nie Meskalin in einem Postfach eingeworfen.

It turned out I was among the last to see Malaclypse. As subsequent issues of Greater Poop revealed, he was to disappear and POEE business was to be assumed by his students at Norton Cabal. Professor Ignotum P. Ignotius, Department of Comparative Realities, was assigned the Trust of the POEE Scruple and Rev. Dr. Occupant became Keeper of the Box. The newly published copies of Principia were distributed by Mad Malik, Block Disorganizer, who had distribution contacts with the Aluminum Bavariati. Practical relations remained in the hands of concept artist G. Hill.

When the 1000 Principias were gone the Greater Poop stopped publishing, Head Temple closed down and the Cabal just seemed to evaporate. Finally even the box was closed. But over the years I noticed that copies were still circulating, and that independent Discordian Cabals would occasionally pop out of nowhere (and still do). And I would wonder what ever happened to Malaclypse.

When I read the Illuminatus trilogy I resolved to again find and interview the denizens of Joshua Norton Cabal of the Discordian Society.
