The Candywitch Coven (eng)

A general analysis.

What kind of magic do the Candywitches actually perform? The magicians of the world may ask „what are the principles behind the Candywitches? How does their magic work and what evidence do they have?“

Well, first of all it has to be said that there is no real proof that magic works, just like any other magic. It is, like so many things, a matter of faith and a philosophy of life that you can make your own and with which you can shape your life and that of others if you want to. Nevertheless we will try to break down which principles could work, which activities could work and why you should do all this.

Candywitches are known for one thing. Sweets and the preparation of those and from this preference it is almost inevitable that you have to take a look at the understanding that the discordic magic of Eris and chaos in general is represented by this, namely that this is similar to a cookie dough, can be shaped and refined and that from this shaping and refinement new aspects emerge which are also part of the cookie dough, but enrich it with said aspects, so that in every refinement of the cookie dough a modification always resonates with the all-embracing chaos itself. Well we don't want to go into the concept of the cookie dough and why it was chosen to symbolize Eris and the chaos itself. An explanation can be found here (author's note: at this point you can insert the essay about the cookie dough or use a reference that refers to it)

Candywitches understand, or perhaps even more than Phools, the universal chaos as a cookie dough that can be formed, transmuted and redirected, and with which one generally works. Contrary to Phools, Candywitches take the allegory much more concretely into their view of the world by using their magic to literally modify, edit and finally complete this or a cookie dough. The result of this work corresponds to what is generally known as a sweet pastry and strangely enough, the strange form of magic that Candywitches use seems to manifest itself here.

Well, I for one see a clear parallel to the magic that is commonly known as gastro magic and which, just like the magic of the Candywitches, can have a very direct and worldly effect if you are aware of its principles.

Candywitches, however, understand this concept much more holistically by incorporating components into their work that could be understood as esoteric or spiritually influenced at best. This approach does not diminish the result. On the contrary, it seems that this approach is much more effective. It is remarkable that Candywitches seem to master a form of spiritual baking that, simply put, seems to work without any real ingredients. Even more simply one can say that Candywitches can bake cookies and cakes on a purely spiritual level that directly work as magic on the world. The Candy Switch uses the same allegory we already knew from the previous chapter as cookie dough and enriches it with ingredients that are also allegories for states or aspects.

But I would like to point out that a real cake or cookie is always better than a purely spiritual nonexistent one. The reasons for this are obvious.

So if a Candywitch does a spell based on the cookie dough, it can manifest itself in real life as a cookie or cake or in the case of the spiritual version as a picture, symbol or text. Even actions can be defined as a cookie or cake in this context.

Very vivid examples are provided here by the planetary magic used by the Candywitches. The planetess Eris probably corresponds here to the cookie dough as a raw and very simple foundation. If a Candywitch wants to cast a spell that deals with the „abundance of communication“, she does so by adding to the cookie dough Eris those aspects that are planetary for these aspects. For example, Merkürdig harbors the Universal Power of Communication and is interpreted as caramel or popcorn, while Jippita symbolizes the universal quality of abundance and is considered either caramel (in the case of an attractor) or latte. In the concrete case this would mean nothing else but a Candywitch that wants to work a planetary magic of communicative abundance. In the course of the work it either bakes a cookie made of popcorn and caramel and eats it or gives it to the person for whom the magic was intended or maybe just a simple coffee drinking event that is characterized by light entertainment. In any case, she will use the universal qualities of the planets for her endeavor, whatever the result will be.

Now there is speculation that the magic of the Candywitches, according to the principles of the eristic/aneristic vibration theory of the Phool Magic, creates its own vibration field which has a direct effect on the general distribution of the eristic/anistic vibration in the world.

This, admittedly still quite unexplored, speculation assumes that the candy that was produced by the Candywitches in whatever form is transformed into eristic vibration by the consumption of an aneristically charged personality. If this is confirmed by further research, it would mean that the Candywitches have the ability to magically produce any number of aneristic gray faces in a mass of eristic energy. This ability can be of existential importance especially in times of an overly strong occurrence of aneristic vibrations in the world. In concrete terms this would mean nothing else but that a Candy Switch has the ability to transform any aspect of the chaotic cookie dough into a cookie by means of its magic, which in turn is transformed by a gray-face into the eristic energy that most closely reflects the quality of the ingredient or aspect. So if a Candywitch wants to increase the quality of communication by planetary magic, she will do so by baking a number of cookies with popcorn and caramel and distributing them to as many gray-faces as possible. A truly fascinating thought. The whole thing has something of a Trojan horse, which amusingly enough brings us back to Eris.
