Kritik kommt von Jens Wieseke vom Berliner Fahrgastverband Igeb. Er sagte der Morgenpost: „Hier wird der Verbundgedanke für einen billigen Marketing-Gag ad absurdum geführt“. Dazu liegt der Preis erheblich über den Sozialtickets, für das Sozialhilfeempfänger noch 27,50 Euro im Monat, (330 Euro im Jahr) zahlen müssten.

Das Modell gibt’s vom kommenden Dienstag an für 180 Euro in zwei Läden in Berlin. Zum Vergleich: Die Jahreskarte für Berlin, die allerdings auch in der S-Bahn und in Regionalzügen gilt, kostet 728 Euro. Damit ist der Schuh für einen Schnäppchenpreis zu haben.

Man nehme zum Beispiel Stiefel. Mumm verdiente achtunddreißig Ankh-Morpork-Dollar im Monat, plus Spesen. Wirklich gute Lederstiefel kosteten etwa fünfzig Dollar das Paar. Erschwingliche Stiefel hingegen kosteten nur rund zehn Dollar. Etwa ein Jahr lang leisteten sie gute Dienste, dann war die Pappsohle so dünn, dass man sich selbst bei leichtem Nieselregen nasse Füße holte. Solche Stiefel hatte Mumm immer benutzt. Er trug sie so lange, bis er durch die hauchdünnen Sohlen die charakteristischen Merkmale des Kopfsteinpflasters spürte und so selbst in einer nebligen Nacht feststellen konnte, wo er sich befand.

Gute Stiefel hingegen hielten jahrelang. Wenn man fünfzig Dollar für ein Paar Stiefel ausgab, waren auch moch in zehn Jahren trockene Füße garantiert. Ein armer Teufel hingegen, der sich mit billigem Schuhwerk begnügen musste, gab in der gleichen Zeit hundert Dollar für einfache Stiefel aus und hatte trotzdem nasse Füße.
