I am trying to verify some facts. One claim I want to verify is this comment about the Chaos Computer Club;

They’ve been around since 1981 and they are explicitly founded as a Discordian group.”

Many of the things I've found on this topic are in German and I'm struggling a little. Does anyone have an insight into the credibility of this statement?

I think they have founded as an Hacker Community to make some money
